School Uniforms

407 children. One community. A stronger start to the school year.

407 Children Returned to School with New Uniforms

RebuildSXM, in partnership with the St. Maarten Development Fund (SMDF), helped 407 children across Sint Maarten prepare for the school year by providing brand-new school uniforms. Through this initiative, the project focused on supporting the island’s most vulnerable children, ensuring they had essential clothing to return to school feeling prepared and confident.

Supporting the Children Who Needed It Most

To identify the children who would benefit most, SMDF worked directly with primary schools across the island to gather information and coordinate support. More than 2,000 pieces of clothing were purchased and distributed to participating schools, with each child receiving three shirts or blouses and two pairs of trousers or skirts.

Investing in Local Businesses and Families

The project allocated NAf. 44,400 from RebuildSXM, complemented by a combined contribution of NAf. 16,000 from SMDF and Windward Islands Bank (WIB). Uniforms were purchased from local businesses on Sint Maarten, helping families access essential school clothing while supporting the island’s local economy.

A Community Effort That Made a Difference

The success of this initiative was made possible through the dedication and collaboration of numerous partners. RebuildSXM extended its gratitude to SMDF for its extensive coordination efforts, as well as WIB, 0–14 Kids, Penny’s Department Store St. Maarten, the stores operated by school Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), and the staff of participating primary schools. Together, these contributions helped 407 children start the school year with the clothing they needed, demonstrating the impact of community partnerships working towards a shared goal.
