Project Eligibility

Benefit the SSS Islands

  • Sint Maarten;
  • Saba;
  • St. Eustatius;
  • A combination of the three islands

Address a Community Need

  • Identify the issue;
  • Describe the need or opportunity;
  • Explain the project’s relevance;
  • Highlight the community benefit.

Be Realistically Deliverable

  • A realistic implementation plan;
  • A clear timeline;
  • An appropriate budget;
  • An organisation or project team capable of carrying it out.

Have a Defined Outcome

  • What the project will achieve;
  • Who will benefit;
  • What activities will be carried out;
  • What success will look like.

Funding Guidelines

Funding May Be Used For

  • Materials and equipment;
  • Venue or facility costs;
  • Project personnel or specialist services;
  • Transportation and logistics;
  • Communications and promotional materials;
  • Educational or programme materials;
  • Community activities and events;
  • Construction, improvement, or restoration costs directly connected to the project;
  • Other expenses necessary for successful project delivery.

Funding May Not Be Used For

  • Personal expenses unrelated to the project;
  • Payment of personal debts;
  • Political campaigns or party-political activities;
  • Activities that discriminate against individuals or groups;
  • Activities that are unlawful;
  • Projects whose primary purpose is private financial gain;
  • Expenses incurred before approval of the project, unless expressly authorised; or
  • Costs that cannot reasonably be connected to the submitted project.

Public Selection

Projects that pass the eligibility and assessment stage may be presented publicly as part of the Rebuild SXM community selection process.

Information shared may include the organisation and project name, project description, island or community served, requested funding amount, and any photos, videos, or project materials provided.

The public will then be invited to support the project(s) they believe should receive funding.
