Finding The Opportunity

Believing in the power of collaboration, RebuildSXM reached out to its network to identify opportunities to make a meaningful difference for young people with limited resources. This led us to Jason, a physical education teacher at a local primary school who also worked extensively with a foundation dedicated to youth sports and physical education on Sint Maarten.

Understanding The Needs

With Jason’s expertise and local connections, we assessed which schools and organisations were most in need of physical education equipment. The assessment revealed that public schools faced particular needs, prompting us to consult schools, foundations, and companies involved in youth sports to identify the equipment that would make the greatest difference.

Making Every Euro Count

To maximise our limited budget, we leveraged another valuable connection within our network. Jisk, one of our members and a manager at Decathlon at the time, helped secure a substantial discount on sporting goods. This enabled us to purchase more equipment and extend the project’s reach, ensuring that our resources benefited as many schools and organisations as possible.

Delivering Impact

Based on the needs identified, RebuildSXM supplied sporting equipment to three high schools, six primary schools, and eight sporting organisations across Sint Maarten. Each school received more than 100 items, with quantities tailored to its specific needs. Through collaboration, careful assessment, and strategic purchasing, we helped create better-equipped environments for physical education and youth sports.
